Patients who have had a serious brain injury face many challenges. In the period of rehabilitation following their stay in hospital, many patients are confused and disoriented, and often unaware of the extent of their disability. Along with memory difficulties, these factors contribute to a potentially difficult time in rehab where patients may be unclear not only about their goals but may wonder why they are even there.
Can a programmed tablet device make any difference? Our developers are working on a product which will allow a patient to automatically trigger input on their rehab goals pre-recorded by their therapists, at any time of day, to remind them of goals they are working towards and other related information. This all-hours interaction could significantly improve the way patients engage in their therapy.
This exciting project has potential to dramatically improve rehab outcomes and stimulate better recall of important goals.
